I ask couples to sign a contract, it protects my interests and yours.
I ask for a 20% deposit to be paid on booking.
ABOUT WEDDINGS
Whether you've witnessed one of the weddings I have photographed, been recommended to me, or discovered my work online, I consider myself extremely fortunate that couples choose me because they want my reportage style.
My approach is all about capturing your special day in a manner that tells a true story. I aim to catch the moments between moments, and the subtle nuances that often go unnoticed.
Regardless of your wedding plans, you can trust that I will deliver a stunning visual narrative of your day. These photographs will convey the unadorned truth of your wedding, and if I have succeeded in my craft, you won't think of photography as a big part of your day.
WHAT IS REPORTAGE
The term "reportage" is often misused within the realm of photography. Its true definition refers to the factual and journalistic presentation of an account. Unfortunately, it has now become a buzzword that some photographers use without truly understanding its meaning. In my opinion, if you label yourself as a reportage photographer, it should signify more than merely capturing unobtrusive shots; it should encapsulate the essence of the day through a compelling visual narrative.
Reportage serves as a genuine and journalistic approach to documenting weddings, capturing the authentic unfolding of events. When I photograph a wedding, I strive to maintain an inconspicuous presence. If you look at my portfolio, you'll notice that I only capture individuals looking directly at the camera when they naturally do so. By "inconspicuous," I don't mean lurking under tables or using long telephoto lenses. It's about seamlessly integrating into the wedding party.
People feel more comfortable having their photos taken when they are unaware or when at least there is no pressure to pose. During the couple photographs I suggest taking a walk, pretending I am not there, having a moment away from your guests while I document this special moment. The outcome is a collection of natural photos that evoke memories of leisurely strolls, heartfelt conversations, and one of the only times you will be alone on your wedding day. There's no need for forced smiles or waiting for me to set up any equipment. However, it's crucial for you, as the couple, to embrace the purpose of the shoot and as what you put in is what you will get out.
While it's nice to be remembered for photographing someone's wedding, I believe it's even more meaningful to be remembered for the photos I deliver. Your wedding day will pass by swiftly, and with a genuine reportage wedding photographer, you won't miss any of it.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
Grabbing a coffee is an excellent opportunity for us to connect and for you to share your plans. There's absolutely no pressure to commit or book with me. I might have taken a glimpse at your Facebook profile to put a face to your name. So, if we meet at a café, I am the one with the MacBook, making slightly awkward eye contact with anyone who walks in, and seeing if you still look like your profile picture.
Unlimited meetings prior to your wedding because I understand that plans can change. Usually we will just meet twice, once at the enquiry phase and then once closer to the time. As someone who attends numerous weddings each year, I'm more than happy to offer recommendations or assist you with creating a well-planned timeline.
I specialise in a reportage/storytelling style of photography, aiming to create a beautiful and authentic visual record of your day. I won't force you into artificial poses or ask anyone to lift the bride over their shoulder. However, we will have a brief photo session where I'll suggest taking a stroll, discreetly capturing candid moments from a distance. If you need some gentle guidance or hints during the shoot, feel free to ask. And if family lineups are your preference, that's perfectly fine, but we'll keep them streamlined, typically around six. Just make sure to inform your mother in law in advance that your third cousin may not get a formal photo! I generally prefer working alone as it allows me to maintain complete control over the process without relying on others.
Post-production / retouching typically takes me four to five days to complete. Each photograph in your personal gallery will be individually retouched by me. I believe in maintaining complete creative control from the moment of capture to the final upload. In the rare instance that I become overly busy, rest assured that your photographs will be handled by a top-quality retoucher under my guidance.
An online gallery with password protection, featuring your wedding photographs in high resolution and without any watermarks. This gallery allows you and your guests to freely view and download the images at no additional cost. Friends and family can also order prints directly from the gallery, which will be conveniently delivered by post. Alternatively, you can download the images and take them to a local lab of your choice. Additionally, the gallery provides a black and white filtering function, allowing you to transform any colour photo into black and white. It also offers a slideshow capability for an enhanced viewing experience.
Freedom to post, share, and print your images whenever and wherever you like. They are yours to enjoy without any pressure to make additional purchases. While it's always nice to be tagged when you share online, I understand if it slips your mind. Eventually, I'll get over it.
